In Memory of Lynn
Neenah – Lynn T. MacDonald, 72, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 8 at Appleton Medical Center after a long illness.
Lynn leaves behind Linda Lee, his wife of 54 years, and two married sons: Terry (wife Lisa) and Lynn David (wife Lisa). Lynn is also survived by grandsons Dane (and fiancé Emily) and Hunter; granddaughters Brittany and Kali (and husband Charlie Fennema with great grandchildren Sophia and Zeekiel).
Born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Canada, Lynn was a long term resident of Neenah, Wisconsin, but also enjoyed time at his other homes in Marco Island, Florida; Saint Germain, Wisconsin; and Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
Lynn began his career with the most humble of beginnings; married to Linda Lee with babies Terry and Lynny, Lynn worked as an iron worker at Algoma Steel while putting himself through engineering school at Michigan Technical University. After graduating with honors, he accepted a job at Allen-Bradley Company, where he worked his way up to Manager of Sales and Engineering of the Appleton sales office. Lynn resigned from Allen-Bradley to go work for his friend, Lynn Werner, of Werner Electric Supply Company. Soon thereafter, Lynn Werner passed away unexpectedly creating an opportunity for Lynn MacDonald to purchase the business from the Werner family.
From the very beginning Lynn’s vision centered on world-class customer service and technical support. To enable this, he funded construction of new facilities whenever corporate growth necessitated additional inventory and employees. He advanced Werner Electric Supply through product diversification, serving new markets, acquisitions, and joint ventures. He foresaw the importance of partnering with national organizations such as the National Association of Electrical Distributors and Affiliated Distributors, to drive growth. The execution of Lynn’s plans took Werner Electric from humble beginnings in Neenah, Wisconsin, through today with 13 locations across Wisconsin, northern Michigan, and most recently North Dakota.
In addition to Lynn’s caring family, he leaves behind the legacy of a strong company that only he could have built. Lynn’s dedication and spirit will forever be the foundation of Werner Electric Supply.
Final arrangements are being handled by Westgor Funeral Home in Appleton, although no funeral service will be held. Instead, at Lynn’s request, a celebration of life is being planned for December 14, 2017 in Appleton. More details will be made available via the Werner Electric Supply Company website.
